TATAPOWER

Tata Power, recently known as Tata Electric, also established the generation of electricity in India about nine decades ago. It started as Tata Hydroelectric Power Supply Company in 1911, and it even got its new status with the amalgamation of the two entities viz, Tata Hydroelectric Power Supply Company and Andhra Valley Power Supply Company in the year 1916. Currently, it is the country's largest private power utility that was established as a licensee in Mumbai and also with ambitious expansion plans from being specifically Mumbai-centric to a significant national player, not just in the fields of Power but also in the sector of both Energy and Broadband Communication. It also commissioned India’s first power plant, which is the hydro-electric station in Khopoli (with 72 MW) in 1915, and the second hydro station one in Bhivpuri (with 75 MW) in 1919 and the 3rd one in Bhira (with 300 MW) in 1922. With specifically such hydro stations and the 1,350 MW thermal power station located in Trombay, Mumbai; a 475 MW power station located near Jamshedpur in Jharkhand and an 87 MW thermal power plant in Belgaum. It is also the largest integrated private power company in India and is also the most trustworthy power supplier to Mumbai. Also, it is India's largest private sector power utility, along with an installed generation capacity of more than 2785 MW. It also has emerged as a pioneer in the Indian power sector, along with a track record of customer care, performance, and sustained growth. The Company has a presence in all the segments of the power sector viz Generation (hydro, thermal, solar, wind, and liquid fuel), distribution, and transmission. It also has an installed power generation capacity of above 2300 Mega Watts, along with the Mumbai power business that has a unique mix of both Thermal and Hydro Power, being generated at the Thermal Power Station, Trombay, and also the Hydro-Electric Power Stations located at Bhira, Bhivpuri and Khopoli, with the total of 1797 MW. It’s different generation capability facilitates the company in producing low-cost energy. Thus it gives its consumers greater value for money. Also, among its several achievements that Tata Power can proudly boast are the installation as well as commissioning of India’s first 500 MW unit (at its Thermal Power Generating Station located at Trombay) the 150 MW Pumped Storage Unit located at its Hydro Generating Station, Bhira, and environmental control systems such as the Flue Gas Desulphurization plant.
