In 2000, Sterlite Technologies (or STL) was being incorporated under the name Sterlite Optical Technologies. Also, the company's business activities included the manufacturing of telecommunication cables. Soon after in the year 2007, the company name was changed to Sterlite Technologies. Also, the company's headquarters are located in Pune, along with eight manufacturing units across India and ten sales and marketing offices in India, UK, China, Russia, Thailand, and South Africa. In India, Sterlite is considered as a market leader, and it also sells its telecom and power products to more than 60 countries, due to this its export and sales that account for approximately 30% of the company's net revenues. The Company also received several certifications such as TL 9000 and OHSAS 18001:1999 for the management system and ISO 14001:2004 for the Environment Management System.

Some of the Products:

It has expanded its portfolio into the manufacturing and supply of Optical Fibers, Power Transmission Conductors, Fiber Optic Cables, Aluminum & Alloy Rods, Structured Data Cables, Copper Telecom Cables, and Customer Premise Equipment and Cable Accessories. The Company also caters to products to several sectors such as defense, telecom, oil and gas, railway, power, roadways, aviation, and broadband.

Some of the Achievements:

  • The Company was awarded a certificate of achievement at Fast 50 India and Fast 500 Asia Pacific Awards during 2005–2007.
  • Sterlite won the IEEMA Certificate of Appreciation for Best New Product Award 2007 for AL-59 alloy conductors.
  • The Company won the Dun & Bradstreet Award for Corporate Excellence 2007 in the Telecom Equipment sector.
