Amid rising trade tensions with the United States, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made it clear that India will never compromise on the interests of its farmers and fishermen. His statement comes at a time when US President Donald Trump has doubled tariffs on Indian goods, escalating the trade dispute.

Chouhan highlighted that the US wanted India to open its markets to foreign agricultural produce. “They farm on vast lands using GM seeds and subsidies. Our small farmers could not have withstood such competition,” he explained.

‘New Bharat Will Not Bow Under Pressure’

Speaking at the 12th convocation of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Chouhan emphasized that today’s Bharat is brimming with confidence and will not bow under external pressure. He asserted that no agreement will ever be signed against India’s national interest.

He also stressed the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to support indigenous goods, which would generate jobs and strengthen the economy.
