Akash Ambani Stresses on Quality Over Hours Work Smart, Not Just Long
Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, emphasized the importance of quality over quantity in work during his address at Mumbai Tech Week. Speaking on productivity and workplace efficiency, Ambani stated that the number of hours an individual works is far less important than the quality of work delivered each day.
“I don’t think about work in terms of timings and hours. It’s about the quality of work that you do on a daily basis,” he said.
Ambani was responding to a question posed by Dream11 CEO Harsh Jain about whether he would prefer working 8 AM to 5 PM or 5 PM to 8 AM. Rather than choosing between time slots, he reiterated that growth is driven by impact rather than sheer time spent at work.
“Growth is life is a motto of Reliance, but it also applies to your personal life,” Ambani said.
He further elaborated that personal and professional development comes from stepping out of one’s comfort zone.
“You have to grow with every single day that is passing. Explore new areas that make you uncomfortable and evolve from there,” he added.
Ambani’s comments reflect a shifting paradigm in corporate culture, where output, creativity, and innovation take precedence over rigid work schedules.
Beyond workplace culture, Ambani also discussed Reliance Jio’s growing investment in artificial intelligence (AI). He revealed that the company has assembled a team of over 1,000 data scientists, researchers, and engineers to spearhead AI-driven initiatives.
“We have built a strong AI team with over 1,000 data scientists, researchers, and engineers to guide us in our AI journey,” Ambani stated.
To further boost AI capabilities, Reliance Jio is building a massive 1-gigawatt (1GW) data center in Jamnagar.
“This facility will play a crucial role in India’s AI journey,” he added.
This development aligns with India’s broader vision of becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The data center will help power AI models, support next-gen computing, and provide critical infrastructure for AI-driven applications across industries.
Ambani’s emphasis on quality over hours reflects a growing trend in modern work culture, where efficiency, creativity, and results matter more than just logging hours.
This mindset aligns with global industry shifts, as companies increasingly focus on outcome-based performance rather than traditional work schedules.
Akash Ambani’s remarks at Mumbai Tech Week highlight two crucial themes:
As AI becomes a central force in shaping industries, companies that prioritize innovation and smart work ethics will lead the next wave of technological transformation. Ambani’s leadership approach signals that Reliance Jio is positioning itself at the forefront of this change.
