Delhi Assembly Election Results 2025 Live
February 8, 2025 – The Delhi Assembly Election 2025 has seen an extraordinary victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking a decisive defeat for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). As per the latest Election Commission updates, the BJP has clinched 2 seats and is leading in 45 other constituencies, while the AAP has been reduced to just 23 seats. In a shocking turn of events, AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia lost their seats, with Kejriwal defeated by BJP’s Parvesh Verma in the prestigious New Delhi constituency.
In his first statement after the BJP’s massive win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude and stated that he was “humbled and honoured” by the people’s trust. He also vowed that under the “double-engine government”, Delhi’s development would accelerate, transforming the capital into a model of progress.
In an official statement, Arvind Kejriwal conceded defeat, congratulating the BJP for its victory. He emphasized that AAP would now focus on playing a constructive role as the opposition in the Delhi Assembly.
One of the most talked-about contests in this election was the battle for the New Delhi constituency. BJP’s Parvesh Verma triumphed over Kejriwal, winning by a margin of over 3,000 votes. Verma, a two-time MP from West Delhi, secured a stunning victory, marking a major setback for the AAP in its stronghold.
Amidst the election results, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut claimed that a potential Congress-AAP alliance could have dealt a crushing blow to the BJP. Raut criticized the lack of unity between AAP and Congress, highlighting how it indirectly helped the BJP secure its victory.
Several prominent BJP leaders took to social media to celebrate the victory:
In the aftermath of the results, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao criticized Rahul Gandhi for his inability to challenge the BJP effectively, adding that his actions have often weakened regional parties and bolstered the BJP’s position.
One of the crucial factors behind BJP’s victory is believed to be the shift in support from Delhi’s traditionally politically disengaged middle-class voters. The Union Budget’s recent tax incentives and Modi government’s policies seem to have won over the middle class, contributing to the BJP’s impressive performance in the capital.
