India-Pakistan Tensions Escalate: MEA Links Pakistan Army Chief’s Speech to Pahalgam Attack

Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified once again, with sharp remarks and heightened military activity on both sides. On May 8, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) held a press briefing in New Delhi to address the growing concerns over recent provocations from across the border.

MEA Responds to Pakistan Army Chief’s Communal Remarks

During the media briefing, India strongly condemned a recent communal speech by the Pakistan Army Chief, linking it directly to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The Indian side emphasized that such statements from senior military leadership in Pakistan only serve to incite violence and create further instability in the region.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the seriousness of the matter, drawing attention to the potential consequences of such inflammatory rhetoric.

15 Target Attempts by Pakistan, India Responds Precisely

According to the Indian Army, Pakistan made as many as 15 target attempts across North and West India. These were met with a precise and calculated response from New Delhi, demonstrating India’s readiness to defend its territory.

The army also noted a sharp increase in cross-border firing by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC), further escalating tensions.

Foreign Secretary Slams Pakistan’s Doublespeak on Terrorism

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also spoke at the briefing, highlighting Pakistan’s contradictory stance on terrorism. He pointed out that terrorists were being accorded ‘state honours’ in Pakistan, which exposes Islamabad’s duplicity in tackling terror elements.

“It is unacceptable that individuals responsible for violence are being glorified by the state,” Misri stated, reinforcing India’s concerns about Pakistan’s continued support to terror groups operating in the region.

India-Pakistan Relations Remain Fragile

The developments mark a fresh low in India-Pakistan relations, which continue to be strained by repeated ceasefire violations, terror attacks, and hostile political rhetoric.

The Indian government has made it clear that it will not tolerate any attempts to destabilize peace and security, especially in sensitive areas like Jammu & Kashmir.

Conclusion

As military and diplomatic tensions rise, India has taken a firm stand against Pakistan’s recent actions and statements. The MEA’s strong words, backed by the Indian Army’s response on the ground, underline the seriousness with which the country views the situation.

India-Pakistan tensions are at a critical point, and the world will be closely watching the developments in the days to come.
