India Raises Pahalgam Terror Attack With US; Rubio Calls for Justice

In the wake of the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, India has officially raised the matter with the United States. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar brought up the issue in a recent conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians—most of them tourists—has drawn widespread condemnation.

During the call, Rubio expressed deep sorrow over the “horrific” incident and conveyed his condolences for the lives lost. He strongly condemned the violence and emphasized that those responsible—including the perpetrators, backers, and planners—must be brought to justice.

Jaishankar took to X (formerly Twitter) to share details of the conversation, stating,

“Discussed the Pahalgam terrorist attack with US @SecRubio yesterday. Its perpetrators, backers and planners must be brought to justice.”

This dialogue marks a significant step in India’s diplomatic response to the Pahalgam terror attack, as it seeks international cooperation in holding the culprits accountable. India’s firm stance on terrorism remains unchanged, and it continues to raise such issues with global partners to build a united front against terror networks.

Meanwhile, Rubio also reached out to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, urging both India and Pakistan to “de-escalate tensions” following the tragic incident. His remarks highlight the delicate balance in South Asia’s geopolitical landscape, especially after such a high-impact terrorist event.

The international community is now watching closely as India seeks justice and calls for collective action against terror.

The Pahalgam attack has once again brought the focus back on cross-border terrorism and the need for stronger global counter-terrorism measures. With key global leaders now involved, the pressure is mounting for meaningful steps to ensure such tragedies do not repeat.
