India Revokes Visas of Pakistani Nationals After Pahalgam Terror Attack
In a decisive diplomatic and security move, the Government of India has announced the revocation of all visas issued to Pakistani nationals, effective April 27, 2025, in response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released an official statement on Thursday confirming the immediate suspension of all visa services for citizens of Pakistan.
According to the MEA, the decision follows a high-level security review by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which convened after the Pahalgam incident. The MEA stated that “all existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals stand revoked with effect from April 27, 2025.” This decision includes all categories of visas, barring a temporary exception made for medical emergencies.
However, the government clarified that medical visas already issued will remain valid until April 29, 2025, after which they too will be rendered void. The statement added that Pakistani nationals currently in India must exit the country before the expiry of their visas, as revised.
The MEA has also issued a strong advisory to Indian nationals, urging them to refrain from traveling to Pakistan under any circumstances. Furthermore, Indians currently in Pakistan have been advised to return immediately, emphasizing a sharp deterioration in bilateral travel relations and heightened regional tensions.
