Major Blow to Naxals: Over 26 Killed in Chhattisgarh Encounter with Security Forces

In one of the biggest operations against Naxals in recent times, more than 26 Naxalites have been killed in an intense encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh. The incident took place along the Narayanpur-Bijapur border, deep inside the dense forests between Abhujmad and Indravati National Park.

The gunfight broke out when a joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from four districts was conducting an anti-Naxal operation in the region. The encounter began on Wednesday in Narayanpur district, and has reportedly lasted over 50 hours, as per police officials.

“The encounter took place in dense forests between Abhujmad and Indravati national park area when a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) of police from four districts was out on anti-Naxal operation,” said Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, confirming the coordinated effort.

According to reports from News18, several senior Naxal cadre members were among those killed, and a top Naxal leader is also suspected to have been eliminated in this extensive action.

This operation marks a major success for the security forces in their ongoing fight against Naxal insurgency in central India. The dense forest region where the encounter occurred is known to be a Naxal stronghold, making this development highly significant in terms of security and strategy.
