Modi in Paris: PM Speaks at AI Summit
Paris, February 11, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the AI Action Summit in Paris, co-chaired with French President Emmanuel Macron, calling for global AI governance and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. PM Modi highlighted India’s willingness to share its AI expertise to ensure a positive and inclusive AI future.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi arrived in Paris as part of his two-nation tour, where he was warmly received by President Macron. During his visit, PM Modi will hold discussions with both French leaders and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.

This marks PM Modi’s sixth visit to France, underscoring the deepening strategic ties between India and France.
At the AI summit, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance warned against overregulation of artificial intelligence, stressing that it could stifle innovation in the AI industry.
“Excessive regulation would kill the rapidly growing AI industry,” Vance said during his address.
Vice President Vance also vowed that the U.S. would block attempts to weaponize AI, ensuring that AI systems are not used for mass surveillance or censorship.
“Hostile adversaries have weaponized artificial intelligence to surveil and censor people, but the United States will block those efforts,” Vance emphasized.
The Paris AI Summit brought together global leaders, tech CEOs, and policymakers to discuss AI governance.
