New Delhi, April 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding a series of high-level Cabinet meetings today at his official residence on Lok Kalyan Marg, shortly after the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The meetings are being seen as crucial in the wake of increasing tensions between India and Pakistan.
Among the key meetings being held is the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA)—a powerful body often referred to as the “super cabinet” due to its influence on critical national decisions. The presence of top Union ministers signals the gravity of the situation and the Centre’s intent to assess and address emerging security challenges.
This high-level review comes at a time of heightened security concerns in the Valley, following the recent attack that has once again raised questions on cross-border terrorism and internal preparedness.
The CCPA has a history of stepping in during moments of national crisis. In fact, during the Pulwama terror attack in February 2019, the same committee was convened to evaluate India’s strategic response. Within days, India conducted the Balakot air strikes, a major counter-terrorism action across the Line of Control.
The timing and urgency of today’s meeting suggest that the Centre is closely monitoring the developing situation and is likely to chalk out a comprehensive security and diplomatic response.
While no official statement has yet been released, expectations are high that the government may outline its action plan soon—especially with the general public and opposition seeking clarity and assurance.
These developments come against the backdrop of India-Pakistan tensions resurfacing, and the Centre’s immediate response reflects the seriousness with which it is approaching the situation.
