The Powering Bharat Summit 2025 kicked off with strong statements and ambitious goals as leaders from government and industry came together to discuss India’s roadmap to becoming a developed nation by 2047. Organised by Network18 in partnership with Moneycontrol, News18 India, and CNBC Awaaz, the summit is a platform to share real-time updates, expert opinions, and bold visions for the future.
In a powerful declaration, CR Patil addressed the current state of the Yamuna River, calling it a “nallah” (drain) right now, but expressed optimism about its revival. He confidently stated that the Yamuna will be clean and fit for drinking within the next 1.5 years.
“Yamuna is a nallah now, but in 1.5 years it will be clean enough to drink,” said CR Patil, signaling major environmental and infrastructure plans in motion.
This statement comes at a time when clean water and urban river rejuvenation are central to India’s sustainable development goals.
The summit’s opening session also featured Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, who outlined India’s opportunities in the global textile market. Emphasizing the country’s strengths, he said:
“We have the opportunity, and there’s no shortage of labour force.”
He further noted that global trade shifts are creating new opportunities for Indian exporters, especially after the U.S. imposed tariffs under former President Donald Trump’s policies.
“Trump has imposed tariffs—that’s good for his country. The US imports $100 billion worth of textiles,” Singh said, pointing to the massive scope for India to increase its textile exports.
The Powering Bharat Summit 2025 is not just a policy talk—it’s a vision-setting exercise for India’s long-term growth. The platform is designed to align political will, industry execution, and citizen participation towards a shared goal: making India a developed economy by 2047.
From environmental goals like cleaning the Yamuna to sectoral ambitions like boosting textile exports, the summit sets the tone for India’s journey ahead.
