Reliance Partners with Google to Offer Free Gemini Pro Plan for Select Jio Users for 18 Months

Reliance and Google join hands to boost AI adoption in India

In a major step toward accelerating India’s artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, Reliance Industries Ltd has announced a strategic partnership with Google to provide free access to Gemini Pro AI services for select Jio users aged 18 to 25. The offer, valued at ₹35,000, will be available for 18 months through Reliance Intelligence Ltd, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries.

The limited-time offer will go live on October 30, giving eligible Jio users under 25 years access to Google’s advanced AI capabilities at no additional cost. The partnership aims to democratize AI access, encouraging young Indians to explore and innovate using Google’s cutting-edge AI ecosystem.

Free Gemini Pro plan for Jio 5G users

Under this collaboration, Jio users subscribed to Unlimited 5G prepaid or postpaid plans starting from ₹349 can avail of the Gemini Pro plan for free. The plan includes:

  • Unlimited AI chats with Gemini Pro

  • 2TB cloud storage shared across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail

  • Video generation tools through Veo 3.1

  • Image generation features powered by Nano Banana

  • Access to Google’s advanced productivity and AI tools

Eligible users can claim the offer via the “Claim Now” option in the MyJio app. The benefits will remain active for the full 18-month duration as long as the user stays on an eligible Unlimited 5G plan.

Existing Gemini Pro subscribers using their Gmail ID can seamlessly migrate to the complimentary “Google AI Pro – Powered by Jio” plan once their paid subscription expires.

Mukesh Ambani: “India will be AI-empowered”

Commenting on the collaboration, Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, emphasized the company’s mission to make AI tools accessible to every Indian.

“Reliance Intelligence aims to make intelligence services accessible to 1.45 billion Indians. Through our collaboration with Google, we aim to make India not just AI-enabled but AI-empowered — where every citizen and enterprise can harness intelligent tools to create, innovate and grow,” Ambani said.

Ambani highlighted that the initiative aligns with Reliance’s broader goal of driving technological inclusion through affordable digital services, echoing its earlier success in democratizing internet access via Jio.

Google Cloud and Reliance to expand enterprise AI infrastructure

The collaboration extends beyond consumer offerings. Reliance Intelligence Ltd will partner with Google Cloud to enhance AI infrastructure across Indian enterprises. The initiative will focus on expanding access to Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) — advanced AI accelerators that enable faster model training and inferencing.

This move is expected to empower Indian businesses to train and deploy large-scale AI models, improve automation, and accelerate AI-driven digital transformation across sectors like retail, healthcare, and logistics.

Sundar Pichai: “This partnership brings AI to millions”

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, described the alliance as the next chapter in Google’s decade-long collaboration with Reliance.

“Reliance has been a longstanding partner in our goal of advancing India’s digital future. Together we’ve brought affordable internet access and smartphones to millions. Now, we are bringing this collaboration into the AI era,” Pichai said.

“Today’s announcement will put Google’s cutting-edge AI tools in the hands of consumers, businesses, and India’s vibrant developer community. I’m excited for how this partnership will help expand access to AI across India.”

Pichai added that India’s growing developer ecosystem and Reliance’s wide digital reach create a powerful foundation for AI adoption at scale.

Reliance Intelligence to drive enterprise AI adoption

As part of the expanded partnership, Reliance Intelligence will serve as a strategic go-to-market partner for Google Cloud, helping drive the adoption of Gemini Enterprise among Indian businesses.

The company also plans to build custom enterprise AI agents within the Gemini ecosystem, complementing Google’s offerings and integrating with third-party AI solutions. This will enable businesses to deploy intelligent agents for customer support, analytics, and process automation — all powered by Google’s AI models.

India’s AI landscape gets a major push

The Reliance–Google collaboration represents one of the most ambitious AI partnerships in India’s tech sector, combining Reliance’s vast digital ecosystem with Google’s AI expertise. The initiative is expected to accelerate AI literacy, create new revenue opportunities, and fuel innovation among India’s youth and enterprises alike.

With India emerging as one of the world’s fastest-growing digital markets, this partnership signals a new era where AI becomes as accessible as the internet, empowering users across urban and rural regions.
