Reliance Retail Acquires Kelvinator to Boost Consumer Durables Segment

In a strategic move to strengthen its footprint in India’s booming consumer durables market, Reliance Retail has acquired the iconic home appliances brand Kelvinator. The acquisition is aimed at accelerating Reliance’s entry into the premium home appliances segment and enriching its growing product portfolio.

Kelvinator, once famous for its slogan “The Coolest One,” is expected to add strong brand value to Reliance’s consumer durables business.

Announced on Friday, this acquisition is part of Reliance Retail’s broader vision to bring globally benchmarked, high-quality appliances to Indian households. The brand Kelvinator, which gained popularity in India during the 1970s and 80s, is especially known for pioneering home refrigeration.

A Strategic Move to Expand Offerings

With this move, Reliance Retail plans to offer a wider range of premium appliances to meet the evolving needs of Indian consumers. The deal also strengthens Reliance’s ambition to become a dominant player in the consumer durables space.

“This is a significant step in our mission to bring trusted global innovations to Indian consumers,” said Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd.

She emphasized that Reliance’s unmatched scale and vast retail network would play a key role in reviving and growing the Kelvinator brand across India.

Looking Ahead
