Procter & Gamble (P&G), the global FMCG leader, has announced a major leadership change. Shailesh Jejurikar, a long-time executive at the company, will step in as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) starting January 1, 2026, replacing current CEO Jon Moeller, who has held the role since 2021.
The announcement comes amid growing investor pressure and weak volume growth across multiple product categories.
The leadership transition comes at a time when P&G is struggling to maintain its growth momentum. The company has been facing persistent volume weakness, leading to concerns among investors.
As of July 29, P&G’s shares have declined 5.34% since the beginning of the year, reflecting growing unease over its performance.
The incoming CEO, Shailesh Jejurikar, will be tasked with navigating the company through slowing demand, tariff challenges, and investor expectations.

Jejurikar’s appointment has been widely celebrated, especially in India, as he represents a success story of Indian global talent. His brother, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO – Auto and Farm Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra, shared his pride in the achievement.
“It is a proud moment for the country. Shailesh has done his full education in India and grown from P&G India to the top global position. It shows the strength of Indian talent on the world stage,” said Rajesh Jejurikar.
While P&G has not officially stated the reason for the leadership change, reports suggest this is in line with the company’s history of short CEO tenures. According to Reuters, P&G has seen frequent leadership reshuffles over the years, often aligned with strategic pivots or performance-related shifts.
The timing of this change indicates that P&G is possibly looking for fresh leadership to regain momentum and rebuild investor confidence.
As Shailesh Jejurikar prepares to take charge, he inherits a complex set of challenges. From reviving volume growth and navigating global trade dynamics to reassuring stakeholders, the road ahead will be demanding.
However, his deep experience within the company and Indian roots offer a unique blend of global insight and operational know-how.
