Shaktikanta Das Appointed as Second Principal Secretary to PM Narendra Modi
New Delhi, February 10, 2025: Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has been appointed as the Second Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved his appointment, and his tenure will be co-terminus with the Prime Minister’s term or until further orders.
With this appointment, Das will work alongside P.K. Mishra, who continues to serve as Principal Secretary-1 to the Prime Minister.
Shaktikanta Das, a retired IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has held several high-profile positions in the Indian government. His vast experience in economic policymaking, financial regulation, and public administration makes him a valuable addition to the Prime Minister’s core team.
