Trading Holiday Marks the First Market Closure of the Year
Mumbai, February 25 – The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in observance of Mahashivratri. As per the official list of stock market holidays for 2025, this marks the first trading holiday of the year for Indian equity markets.
On this day, there will be no trading activity in the equity, derivatives, and SLB (Securities Lending and Borrowing) segments, and all transactions will resume on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

The Indian stock exchanges have announced a total of 14 market holidays for the year 2025. These include:

- Three holidays each in April and October

Impact of the Holiday on Trading and Settlement
Since the market will be closed on February 26, investors should note the following:
- No trading activity will take place in the equity, derivatives, or commodity markets.
- The settlement of trades executed on February 23 and 24 will be adjusted accordingly.
- Currency and commodity trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also remain suspended during the morning session and will resume in the evening session.
