A powerful accidental explosion tore through the Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar late Friday night, killing nine people and injuring 27 others, the Jammu and Kashmir police confirmed on Saturday.
The blast occurred around 11:20 pm while officials were handling seized explosive material.<\/p>\n
Authorities stated that the blast happened as police personnel, forensic teams, and civil officials were extracting samples from a large cache of explosives linked to a \u201cwhite-collar\u201d terror module.
These explosives were connected to the November 10 Delhi Red Fort car blast.<\/p>\n
Most of those killed were policemen and forensic experts working inside the police station.
Among the injured were three civilians, who were shifted to various hospitals in Srinagar, including 92 Base Hospital and SKIMS.<\/p>\n

This stock was part of a much larger recovery\u2014nearly 3,000 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and sulfur. The material was seized last week from the homes of arrested doctors Dr Muzammil Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Sayeed of Al Falah University.<\/p>\n Investigators described the network as a \u201cwhite-collar\u201d terror module run by radicalised professionals, including medical practitioners. The core trio identified includes:<\/p>\n Dr Muzammil Ganaie \u2013 arrested<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Umar Nabi \u2013 driver of the car used in the Red Fort blast<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Muzzaffar Rather \u2013 absconding<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Another member, Dr Adeel Rather, was arrested with an AK-56 rifle, while the role of absconding accused Muzzaffar Rather remains under investigation.<\/p>\n The case began unfolding after pro-Jaish-e-Mohammed posters surfaced in Bunpora, Nowgam in mid-October, threatening security forces.
