For years, airlines\u2014including IndiGo\u2014sought extensions to delay the enforcement of these rules. Many expected yet another postponement. However, when the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) refused an additional extension, the new norms became effective immediately.<\/p>\n

Agarwal, also an IndiGo shareholder, expects short-term volatility in InterGlobe Aviation\u2019s stock due to negative sentiment around the cancellations. However, he stressed that the airline\u2019s long-term fundamentals remain strong.<\/p>\n

He believes IndiGo will restructure certain aspects of its point-to-point network, especially where crew deployment becomes inefficient under the new FDTL norms. He added that the airline will likely work closely with DGCA to smoothen operational transitions and restore network stability.<\/p>\n

Regarding widespread concerns that IndiGo might lose airport slots because of reduced operations, Agarwal clarified that winter schedule slots are already secured, and the airline is well within its required utilisation limits. The capacity cut, he noted, may actually improve load factors, as demand remains robust and passengers will shift to available flights.<\/p>\n
