Amazon has announced a fresh investment commitment of $35 billion in India by 2030, marking a major scale-up of its long-term strategy for one of its biggest global markets. This new round of capital infusion will support Amazon\u2019s business expansion and strengthen three key pillars: AI-driven digitisation, export growth, and job creation.<\/p>\n
The announcement was made by Amit Agarwal, SVP, Emerging Markets at Amazon, during the Amazon Smbhav 2025 event held in New Delhi on December 10.<\/p>\n
Amit Agarwal revealed that between 2010 and 2024, Amazon has already invested $40 billion across its businesses in India. These investments have significantly contributed to the growth of India\u2019s digital economy.<\/p>\n
He noted that Amazon has:<\/p>\n
Digitised 10 million small businesses<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Achieved $20 billion in cumulative exports<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Supported 2.8 million direct and indirect seasonal jobs in 2024 alone<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
According to Agarwal, these achievements position Amazon among the largest foreign capital contributors to India’s digital landscape.<\/p>\n
During the event, Agarwal highlighted Amazon\u2019s scale and impact in the country.<\/p>\n
He stated that, based on Amazon\u2019s cumulative investments and progress on its pledges:<\/p>\n
Amazon is the largest foreign investor in India<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
It is the largest creator of exports among foreign companies<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
And one of the largest creators of jobs in the country<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
He stressed that India remains a long-term strategic growth market for the company, and Amazon is \u201cjust getting started.\u201d<\/p>\n
