Shares of Coal India Ltd (CIL) climbed for the fifth consecutive session on December 23, emerging as the top gainer on the Nifty 50, after reports suggested that its coking coal subsidiary Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL) may soon tap the capital markets. According to an ET Now report, BCCL is likely to launch a Rs 1,300-crore initial public offering within the next two weeks. The proposed IPO is expected to be a pure offer for sale (OFS), with Coal India planning to dilute around 10 percent of its equity stake in the subsidiary.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo fresh shares will be issued, which means the entire proceeds from the IPO will go to Coal India,\u201d the report said, highlighting that the issue is aimed at stake monetisation rather than capital raising for BCCL.<\/p>\n
Market participants said the timeline indicates that the offering may be imminent, adding to the positive sentiment around Coal India shares.<\/p>\n
