Revenue growth held up at 12.3% year-on-year, but the Street wasn\u2019t looking for growth \u2014 it was looking for <em data-start=\"1239\" data-end=\"1248\">quality<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1334\">Margins disappointed. Sequential deal value declined, and that detail \u2014 more than the headline numbers \u2014 made traders uneasy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1807\" data-end=\"1840\">Then came the positioning trades.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1842\" data-end=\"1887\">Infosys fell 4.23%. Tech Mahindra slid 6.23%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1889\" data-end=\"1955\">Neither had reported results yet \u2014 but that was exactly the point.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1957\" data-end=\"2060\">\u201cAfter HCL, nobody wants to carry risk into earnings,\u201d one Mumbai-based dealer said during the session.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1h0t7q0\" data-start=\"2062\" data-end=\"2087\">No Safe Corners in IT<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2089\" data-end=\"2125\">By late trade, it was a full unwind.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2127\" data-end=\"2228\">TCS was down nearly 4%. LTIMindtree slipped over 4%. Coforge fell close to 6%. Mphasis also declined.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2230\" data-end=\"2409\">Wipro managed to limit losses, and Oracle Financial Services even saw mild buying \u2014 but those were exceptions in an otherwise one-way market.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2411\" data-end=\"2482\">The breadth told the real story: this wasn\u2019t about one company anymore.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"tll238\" data-start=\"2484\" data-end=\"2525\">What Changed \u2014 And Why It Matters Now<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2527\" data-end=\"2564\">IT stocks have taken bad news before.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2566\" data-end=\"2629\">But this time, the reaction was sharper \u2014 and more unforgiving.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2631\" data-end=\"2671\">Three things stood out on trading desks:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2673\" data-end=\"2901\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1f4dx4p\" data-start=\"2673\" data-end=\"2760\">Earnings misses are no longer being absorbed \u2014 they\u2019re being punished instantly<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"z478t\" data-start=\"2761\" data-end=\"2840\">Deal momentum is slipping quietly (Persistent\u2019s numbers confirmed that)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1l8zn1u\" data-start=\"2841\" data-end=\"2901\">Traders are no longer willing to \u201cwait for recovery\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2903\" data-end=\"2922\">That shift matters.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2924\" data-end=\"3055\">Because IT had been one of the few pockets where investors were still willing to give companies the benefit of the doubt on growth.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3057\" data-end=\"3082\">That cushion may be gone.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"79029h\" data-start=\"3084\" data-end=\"3120\">The Real Risk Isn\u2019t Today\u2019s Fall<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3122\" data-end=\"3153\">The 5% drop is headline-worthy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3155\" data-end=\"3194\">But the bigger risk is what comes next.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3196\" data-end=\"3374\">Infosys and Tech Mahindra results are still ahead.
