HEROMOTOCO

It is the world's single largest two-wheeler motorcycle company, and it formed when the Honda Motor Company of Japan, as well as the Hero Group, entered a joint venture, and Hero Honda Motors Limited was incorporated in 1984. This Joint Venture was among India's Hero Group and Honda Motor Company, and Japan has created not only the world's single largest two-wheeler company, but it was also one of the most successful joint ventures globally. During the 80s, it became the first company in India to prove that it was possible to drive a vehicle without even polluting the roads. Soon, it introduced new generation motorcycles that set industry benchmarks for the fuel thrift and low emission. It was a legendary 'Fill it - Shut it - Forget it' campaign that captured the imagination of commuters around India, and Hero Honda sold millions of bikes on the commitment of the increased mileage. And over 20 million Hero Honda two-wheelers are on the Indian roads. These are almost as many as the number of people in Finland, Ireland, and Sweden put together. Hero Honda has consistently grown at double digits since inception; and today, every second motorcycle sold in the country is a Hero Honda. Every 30 seconds, someone in India buys Hero Honda's top-selling motorcycle – Splendor. Also, this festive season, it sold half a million two-wheelers in a single month—a feat unparalleled in global automotive history. It also became the first company in India that introduced four-stroke motorcycles and set the standards for fuel efficiency, pollution control, and quality. It also has an excellent distribution, and with a service, the network spread across the country. Also, its bikes are currently roll out from its three globally benchmarked manufacturing facilities. Such as two of these are located at Dharuhera and Gurgaon in Haryana, and the third state of the art manufacturing facility was also inaugurated at Haridwar, Uttrakhand in April within the same year. Such plants are capable of producing about 4.4 million units per year. It would provide the growth ballast that would sustain Hero Honda in the years to come. As Brijmohan Lall Munjal, the Chairman, the company succinctly points out, 'We pioneered India's motorcycle industry, and it's our responsibility now to take the industry to the next level. We'll do all it takes to reach there.''
