The center for liver disease and transplantation, it completed 100 liver transplantations in less than 4 years with more than 90% success rate, that created a milestone.
It completed about 10,000 Coronary Angioplasties in 2009 that included several refined procedures such as Multi–Vessel Angioplasty, Bifurcation Lesions, and Left Main Angioplasty.
It also performed more than 775 solid organ transplants in 2010 that made it the World’s Busiest Liver Transplant Centres. And Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi also completed more than 500 liver transplants in February 2011.
The Apollo Gleneagles Cancer Hospital introduced Eastern India's first dedicated comprehensive Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
It is one of the six centers in India that became part of a global trial while using the drug-eluting bioresorbable stents, as it was the first in Chennai to use the product. Also, the devices of the next generation that relieves blood vessel block dissolved within a few years.
Apollo Bramwell Hospital, located in Mauritius, in association with Global Biohealth Solutions, originated the Program of Apollo Bramwell Stem Cell Therapy.
The first American underwent a successful Heart Transplant at Apollo Hospitals, in Chennai! He was Ronald Lemmer, 65 years old, was transplanted with the 36-year-old heart of an accident victim in an 8-hour surgery done by Dr. Paul Ramesh at Apollo Hospitals Chennai. Also, in the process, two records were also created. First, the patient was the first U.S. citizen to undergo a heart transplant in India, and second, he was also the oldest person that underwent a heart transplant in India.
