BRIGADE

In 1990, BEL or Brigade Enterprises Limited was initially set up as a partnership firm between M R Jaishankar and Gita Shankar. Then, it was converted into a private company in 1995 and soon became a public company in July 2007. The company develops residential, commercial and retail properties mainly in Bangalore and Mysore, and has also developed and is managing about 115 serviced apartments under the brand name, Brigade Homestead. From 1990, it has completed and delivered about 67 projects that aggregate about 6.7 million square feet (sq ft) of space and comprise of residential (71% of the total developed area), commercial (both IT parks/office buildings that constitute about 26% of the total developed area), and the hospitality ventures (about 3%). And apart from Brigade Investments, other firms with different ownership structure/shareholding patterns were set up to handle diverse projects. Also, new firms and subsidiaries also include Briga ... de Investments & Projects Pvt. Ltd, Brigade Constructions Pvt. Ltd, Brigade Developers Pvt. Ltd, and Brigade Enterprise Pvt. Ltd. In 1997, the partnership company Brigade Investments was dissolved, and the operations were being consolidated by merging all group companies via a High Court order into one flagship company, Brigade Enterprises Pvt. Ltd, in the year 2004. In 2005, a Brigade Hospitality Services Ltd, is a 100% subsidiary company focused its efforts on the hospitality business. And the company facilitated the promotion of its associated companies:
  • Tandem Allied Services Pvt. Ltd (in 2003) is indulged in facility management, home loans, and insurance services.
  • AEC Infotech Pvt. Ltd (in 2000) is into the construction management software and project management services.
It began as a 5 member team that has now became a 1000+ Group and has an established brand name and reputation for constantly developing high-quality properties that are reliable, unique, and convenient for our clients. Soon, the company's status was being changed to a public limited company via a special resolution of the members passed during an annual general meeting that was being held on June 20, 2007. On July 20, 2007, the fresh certificate of incorporation consequent on change of name was being granted to the Company by the Registrar of Companies Karnataka. Also besides Bangalore, it has took up a few projects in Mysore and recently initiated some of the development activities in other parts of south India that include states such as Chennai, Mangalore, and Hyderabad. In December 2007, it also came up with a public issue for funding about INR 47.97 crore for acquiring 41.85 acres of land in both Bangalore and Kottayam, even the INR 512.04 crore construction and development cost of both ongoing and forthcoming projects, and other general corporate expenses. Also, BEL, which is the Brigade Group’s flagship company, is a successful public limited company that successfully completed 67 commercial, residential, retail and hospitality projects, covering over 6.74 million sqft of developable area. Several other projects are in many stages of conceptualization and creation, in multiple cities in South India. Such include luxury apartments, integrated enclaves, state-of-the-art software, and retail facilities, resorts, serviced residences, schools, clubs, 5–star hotels, a convention center, hospital, and an SEZ. Its headquarters are located in Bangalore, with branch offices in many cities in both South India and Dubai. The Company also has a uniquely diverse multi-domain portfolio that covers education, property development, property management services, and hospitality. Some of its projects also extend across major cities in South India such as Kochi, Chennai, Chikmagalur, Hyderabad, Mangalore, and Mysore.

  • 1990: The Brigade Company was being formed as a partnership firm.
  • November 1995: The Company converted from the partnership firm Brigade Enterprises' into a private limited company such as Brigade Enterprise Private Limited' under the Companies Act.
  • December 1995: CRISIL was rating the project 'Brigade Regency' in Bangalore, and it also received 'PA2' rating.
  • December 1996: It also obtained ISO 9001: 1994 certification from the London based Certifying Agency Bureau Veritas Quality International.
  • June 2000: The launch of the `Homestead I' spectrum of luxury serviced apartments in Bangalore.
  • December 2001: The completion and handover of Komarla brigade Residency, which is an eco-friendly building.
  • August 2002: Merger of Brigade Developers PrivateLimited and Brigade Investments and Projects PrivateLimited into our Company.
  • February 2003: The Company is re-certified for ISO 9001:2000.
  • July 2003: The Project Brigade Millenium 1 – Phase ICRA has awarded I 'Mayflower' and 'Cassia' Blocks' a credit rating of `RT2+.'
  • October 2005: Merger of Brigade Constructions PrivateLimited with the Company.
  • December 2005: The Company was re-certified for ISO 9001:2000.
  • June 2006: The completion of the Brigade Millennium, which is an integrated lifestyle enclave in Bangalore.
  • July 2007: The status of the company was changed from private to public.
  • 2010: It entered into a Joint Development Agreement for about 16.50 acres of land for the development of 1.80 million square feet in Whitefield, Bangalore.
  • 2011: It was also awarded as the "Developer of the Year - Commercial" by Realty Plus during the Realty Plus Excellence Awards.
  • The Brigade Metropolis won the Best Residential Property in South India.
  • The Company launched High-Quality Value Homes in Bangalore, the Brigade Meadows on Kanakapura Road.
  • It launched 35 storeys villa-style luxury apartments.
  • 2013: The Company also received the Platinum Award of excellence at CWAB.

  • CRISIL Rating PA2, 1995:It was the first property developer that received this rating.
  • ISO 9001–2000 Quality Assurance Certification:It was given by Bureau Veritas Quality International (or BVQI), 2000, the company was one of the first property developers in South India this certification - for Quality Assurance in Development, Design, Construction, and Marketing of Brigade's residential, commercial, software and industrial buildings.
  • ISO 14001, 2004:(It is the Environmental Management Systems), 2008.
  • OHSAS 18001, 1999:(It is the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series), 2008.
  • RT2+ Rating by ICRA–NAREDCO:(It is the Investment Credit Rating Agency and National Real Estate Development Council), 2003. It is the highest rating ever to be awarded to a project made by a private property developer in India. It was awarded for Brigade Millennium.
