Authorities are investigating whether the explosion is terror-linked, given the legal provisions triggered. Forensic samples are being collected and examined to determine the nature of the explosion and the device used.
In parallel, hundreds of CCTV clips — including footage from nearby toll plazas and vantage points — are being analysed to trace the vehicle’s full route.

What Happens Next?

Residents and commuters in the Old Delhi / Red Fort area are advised to remain alert and follow official instructions. Metro and security agencies have issued high alerts in view of the incident. Given the significance of the location — a UNESCO site and national landmark — the fallout from this incident may have broader implications for security protocols and public safety in central Delhi.

Why This Matters?

This explosion in such a high-visibility location raises serious concerns about public safety, urban security, and the potential for malicious action in crowded civic areas. The quick mobilisation of multiple agencies and the invocation of terrorism-related laws illustrate the gravity of the incident.
