Pakistan Warns of ‘Severe Response’ as India’s Trishul 2025 Military Drills Escalate Tensions

Pakistan has accused India of planning a ‘false flag operation’ amid the ongoing Trishul 2025 tri-service military exercise, intensifying tensions across the Arabian Sea region. The claim was made by Pakistan’s military on Monday, as the nation imposed new airspace restrictions and issued firing warnings in response to India’s large-scale defence drills.

Pakistan Alleges ‘False Flag’ Plot During Trishul 2025

According to Dawn, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry told senior journalists in Islamabad that India might stage a “false flag” operation in the maritime domain during the Trishul 2025 exercise.

“Let India do whatever it wants, on land, in the sea, or in the air. India must know, this time, the response will be far more severe,” the ISPR chief said, as quoted by the publication.

The remarks mark a sharp escalation in rhetoric from Islamabad as India intensifies its tri-services coordination drills under Exercise Trishul 2025.

India’s Trishul 2025: Scale and Strategic Objective

India’s Ministry of Defence earlier confirmed the launch of Exercise Trishul, led by the Indian Navy with participation from the Army and Air Force. The exercise covers regions across Rajasthan, Gujarat, and the Arabian Sea, focusing on joint warfare preparedness.

The Trishul drill involves warships, submarines, fighter jets, tanks, and artillery, testing India’s integrated combat capabilities and operational readiness.

While Indian officials have described it as part of routine strategic preparedness, Pakistan’s reaction reflects a heightened sense of suspicion. Defence analysts told Hindustan Times that mechanisms between both sides exist to prevent accidental encounters during overlapping maritime operations.

Pakistan’s Response: Firing Drills and Airspace Restrictions

In what observers see as a countermeasure, Pakistan’s navy on Saturday issued a navigational warning for live firing drills in the northern Arabian Sea — a zone overlapping with India’s Trishul operations.

According to Dawn, this was followed by a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) restricting major parts of Pakistan’s southern and coastal airspace until November 30.

Reports by CNN-News18, citing intelligence sources, said the repeated NOTAMs indicate both “anxiety and deterrence signalling” by Islamabad. The network also reported that Pakistan has put its military on heightened alert, increased coastal surveillance, and repositioned air and naval assets near the Sir Creek region.

Growing Unease in Islamabad

Officials quoted by CNN-News18 described Pakistan’s moves as acts of “panic and precaution,” reflecting discomfort over the scale of India’s Trishul exercise.

Meanwhile, the ISPR briefing also covered Pakistan’s domestic security operations, claiming 62,113 counterterror operations in 2025 so far, resulting in 1,667 militants killed and 582 soldiers martyred, mostly in Balochistan.

Strategic Context: From Operation Sindoor to Rajnath Singh’s Warning

Trishul 2025 comes just six months after Operation Sindoor (May 7–10), India’s military response following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians on April 22. The operation targeted terror and military infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

On October 2, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh warned Pakistan against any “mischief” near the Sir Creek sector, promising an “overwhelming response” if provoked. Singh had also remarked that Pakistan was “still recovering from the blow dealt by India” during the May confrontation.

Rising Tensions in the Arabian Sea

As India’s Trishul 2025 drills continue, Pakistan’s defensive posturing — including airspace curbs and naval alerts — signals a period of rising military tension in the region. Intelligence reports suggest both sides are maintaining high vigilance to avoid escalation, even as geopolitical rhetoric intensifies.
