YES Bank’s reported profit excludes the potential impact of an AT1-bond ruling, HDFC Bank faces a leadership transition, and ICICI Bank posts stronger earnings. Six key companies are also scheduled to report Q2 results on October 19.
October 19, 2026
Indian stocks enter Monday’s session with three competing forces: a busy corporate earnings calendar, fresh company-specific developments and persistent pressure from elevated crude oil prices.
The Nifty 50 closed Friday at 23,146.15, gaining 0.65% during the session. The benchmark and Sensex rose approximately 3% over the previous week, but sustaining that recovery may depend on whether corporate earnings can meet market expectations. Reuters’ October 19 market outlook highlighted a potentially muted opening, with Brent crude near $108 a barrel.
Bank stocks are the main focus after a mixed set of September-quarter results. ICICI Bank delivered stronger profit growth, HDFC Bank reported a sharp decline in treasury trading gains, and Axis Bank missed analyst estimates despite a substantial rise in earnings. YES Bank presents a different concern: the potential financial impact of a Supreme Court ruling involving its additional tier-1 (AT1) bonds.
Beyond banking, investors will track LTM’s AI-related growth, Divi’s Laboratories’ potential exposure to a new oral weight-loss drug, DLF’s divergence between profit and operating revenue, and new railway contracts. Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement, Hindustan Zinc, IREDA, Union Bank of India and L&T Technology Services are among the companies scheduled to report Q2 results on Monday.

Need to know
- YES Bank: Reported Q2 net profit rose to ₹1,080 crore. A separate pro forma calculation indicated a potential post-tax loss of ₹5,217 crore if the estimated AT1-bond impact had been recognised.
- HDFC Bank: Treasury trading gains fell sharply, while Anup Bagchi is scheduled to take over as MD and CEO on October 27.
- ICICI Bank: Net profit rose 20.1% year on year to ₹14,843 crore, although its net interest margin eased.
- Axis Bank: Profit rose 37.6%, but the result narrowly missed analyst expectations amid higher operating expenses and weaker other income.
- Results calendar: Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement, Hindustan Zinc, IREDA, Union Bank and L&T Technology Services are scheduled to report Q2 results on October 19.
1. YES Bank: Why the ₹5,217-crore AT1 figure needs context
YES Bank is one of Monday’s most important stocks to watch because its reported earnings and potential legal-accounting exposure tell very different stories.
The lender reported Q2 FY27 net profit of ₹1,080 crore, up 65.14% year-on-year. Net interest income increased 22.7% to ₹2,822 crore.
However, the reported result does not reflect the estimated financial impact of the Supreme Court’s October 15 ruling concerning the bank’s write-off of ₹8,415 crore in AT1 bonds.
According to The Economic Times, YES Bank’s pro forma calculations indicate that recognising the estimated impact would have resulted in a post-tax loss of approximately ₹5,217 crore for the quarter.
This was a hypothetical calculation, not the bank’s reported Q2 loss. The bank said it was evaluating the legal and accounting implications of the judgement and the remedies available to it. Its auditors also indicated that recognising the impact would have made the reported financial performance materially different.
The possible balance-sheet implications are also significant. A separate Economic Times analysis estimated that book value per share could fall by up to 26% if the principal and accumulated coupon arrears had to be reinstated and paid. The estimated reduction would be around 16% without the coupon arrears.
What investors should watch: The eventual accounting treatment, any review proceedings and the potential effect on net worth and capital strength. The headline profit increase alone does not resolve these uncertainties.

2. HDFC Bank: Treasury-income pressure meets a leadership transition
HDFC Bank reported a standalone Q2 FY27 net profit of ₹19,510 crore, up 4.7% year on year. Net interest income rose 9.7% to ₹34,619 crore, supported by lending growth.
Treasury operations remained a weakness. Trading gains fell to approximately ₹780 crore from ₹2,390 crore in the year-ago quarter, while provisions for bad loans and other contingencies increased. Its reported net interest margin was 3.16%, adding to concerns about funding costs and profitability.
The result narrowly missed analyst expectations, according to Reuters.
There is also a significant management development. Anup Bagchi is scheduled to take over as managing director and CEO on October 27 for a three-year term, becoming the bank’s first external chief executive. Deputy Managing Director Kaizad Bharucha will step down at the end of December.
The leadership change comes as the lender faces scrutiny over profitability, governance and operational performance.
What investors should watch: Whether loan and deposit growth can support margins, whether treasury income stabilises, and whether the incoming leadership can improve earnings consistency. The management transition is relevant, but its effect on financial performance will take time to assess.

3. ICICI Bank: Stronger profit growth, with margins still in focus
ICICI Bank reported Q2 FY27 standalone net profit of ₹14,843 crore, up 20.1% year on year. Net interest income increased 17.7% to ₹25,339 crore, with the result outperforming market expectations.
Asset quality improved. Gross non-performing assets declined to 1.20% from 1.58% a year earlier, while net NPA stood at 0.30%.
However, net interest margin eased to 4.18%, compared with 4.30% in the year-ago quarter and 4.36% in the preceding quarter.
This makes ICICI Bank an important contrast to HDFC Bank. Its stronger profit growth offers a positive earnings signal, but the sequential decline in margins means investors will still need to monitor funding costs, deposit competition and the sustainability of lending spreads.
What investors should watch: Whether loan growth, fee income and controlled credit costs can maintain earnings momentum as margins moderate.

4. Axis Bank: A 37.6% profit jump that missed estimates
Axis Bank’s Q2 standalone net profit rose 37.6% year on year to ₹7,003 crore. Net interest income increased 11.8% to ₹15,371 crore, while provisions fell and asset quality improved.
However, profit was below the analyst consensus of approximately ₹7,124 crore. Higher operating expenses and a 1.4% decline in other income offset some of the benefits from robust loan growth and lower provisions.
Gross NPA stood at 1.16% at the end of September, improving from 1.28% three months earlier.
As Reuters reported, the earnings miss highlights the challenge of balancing growth with rising operating costs and weaker treasury-related income.
What investors should watch: Expense growth, margins, other income and the bank’s ability to convert strong credit growth into better-than-expected profitability.

5. IDBI Bank: Fairfax’s proposed ₹52,878-crore acquisition
IDBI Bank remains in focus after the government approved Fairfax Financial Holdings’ subsidiary as the strategic buyer for a 60.72% stake for approximately ₹52,878 crore.
The proposed transaction covers a 30.48% government holding and a 30.24% LIC holding. The reported acquisition price is ₹81 per share.
The approval is an important step, but it should not be confused with completion of the transaction. Regulatory processes, including the RBI’s assessment, remain relevant.
What investors should watch: Further regulatory approvals, progress towards closing and the implications for the bank’s future ownership and strategy.

Results today: Six companies investors should track
Monday’s earnings calendar adds another catalyst for stock-specific volatility. The following companies are scheduled to report Q2 FY27 results on October 19, according to Mint’s results calendar and QuarterlyResults.in.
| Company | What investors should focus on |
|---|---|
| Bajaj Finance | Loan growth, net interest income, credit costs and asset quality |
| UltraTech Cement | Cement demand, realisations, input costs and operating margins |
| Hindustan Zinc | Zinc and silver prices, production, costs and profitability |
| IREDA | Loan-book growth, disbursements, asset quality and borrowing costs |
| Union Bank of India | NII, deposit growth, margins and bad-loan trends |
| L&T Technology Services | Revenue growth, deal wins, engineering demand and margins |
Other companies are also listed on the day’s results calendars, including L&T Technology Services, HFCL, Jaiprakash Power Ventures, Piramal Finance and Sobha, along with several smaller firms.
These are scheduled announcements, not confirmed results. Check the latest exchange disclosures for the actual release time and any change in schedule before publishing live updates.
6. LTM: AI revenue rises 47%, but shareholder profit is almost flat
LTM reported Q2 FY27 revenue of ₹11,807.6 crore, up 13.6% year-on-year. EBIT increased 11.5% year on year to approximately ₹1,838 crore, while profit attributable to shareholders was ₹1,379.9 crore, down 0.1% year on year.
The company’s consolidated net profit was approximately ₹1,397.9 crore. These figures refer to different profit measures and should not be interchanged.
On a sequential basis, revenue rose 1.7%, while profit attributable to shareholders fell approximately 4.8%.
Enterprise AI and Business AI revenue increased 47% year on year. LTM also declared an interim dividend of ₹25 per share.
The performance illustrates a key tension for IT services companies: AI-related revenue is growing rapidly, but that growth has yet to translate into comparable growth in overall shareholder profit.
What investors should watch: Whether AI-led engagements expand into sustained revenue growth, stronger margins and improved profitability, rather than relying on AI revenue growth alone. The company’s official Q2 FY27 release reports the 13.6% revenue growth and 11.5% EBIT growth.

7. Divi’s Laboratories: A potential weight-loss drug opportunity, not a confirmed contract
Divi’s Laboratories is in focus after the European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use issued a positive opinion on October 15 recommending marketing authorisation for Eli Lilly’s oral drug Foundayo, also known as orforglipron.
Analysts have suggested that Divi’s could potentially supply intermediates for the drug. However, the cited reports do not establish a confirmed commercial supply agreement or quantify the revenue Divi’s might earn.
The European Commission’s final authorisation decision was still pending in the EMA’s official Foundayo information.
The development matters because oral obesity treatments could widen the market beyond injectable medicines. But a favourable regulatory milestone for Eli Lilly’s drug does not automatically establish a financial benefit for Divi’s Laboratories.
What investors should watch: Any company disclosure confirming supply arrangements, the commercial scale of any engagement and the eventual regulatory decision in Europe.
8. DLF: Higher profit despite sharply lower operating revenue
DLF reported Q2 FY27 consolidated net profit of approximately ₹1,301 crore, up 10.3% year on year. Yet revenue from operations fell 23.3% to around ₹1,261 crore, while EBITDA dropped sharply to approximately ₹23 crore from ₹284 crore.
The divergence shows why headline profit needs to be assessed alongside operating performance. Other income and contributions from associates and joint ventures can influence consolidated profitability even when revenue from operations weakens.
What investors should watch: Sales bookings, project execution and cash generation—and whether earnings remain resilient if contributions from other income and joint ventures change.
9. RailTel and GPT Infraprojects: New railway orders
RailTel received a Letter of Acceptance worth ₹167.52 crore from Railway Recruitment Board, Secunderabad, for examination-related services. It also received a separate order worth ₹18.99 crore for IT infrastructure and cybersecurity services.
GPT Infraprojects and its wholly owned subsidiary reported railway signalling contracts worth ₹149.5 crore and ₹134.11 crore, respectively.
The orders add to their execution pipelines, but contract value alone does not establish the timing of revenue recognition or the eventual profit contribution.
What investors should watch: Execution timelines, project margins, working-capital needs and the conversion of announced orders into revenue.
What could move stocks next?
Monday’s stock action will depend on more than headline profit growth.
ICICI Bank has delivered a stronger earnings outcome, while HDFC Bank’s treasury-income decline and Axis Bank’s earnings miss underline continuing pressure on the quality and consistency of bank profits. YES Bank’s AT1-bond exposure is a separate legal and accounting risk that investors cannot assess through reported quarterly earnings alone.
Outside banking, the results calendar, LTM’s AI growth, Divi’s potential supply opportunity and DLF’s weaker operating revenue provide different catalysts. Their share-price impact will depend on what the market expected, what companies disclose next and how sustainably these developments affect future earnings.
The macroeconomic backdrop adds uncertainty. Reuters highlighted crude oil near $108 a barrel and the importance of global risk sentiment for Indian equities. A strong previous week does not guarantee another advance.

Frequently asked questions
Which stocks are in focus on October 19, 2026?
YES Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, IDBI Bank, LTM, Divi’s Laboratories, DLF, RailTel and GPT Infraprojects are among the stocks with significant earnings, legal, regulatory or order-related developments. Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement, Hindustan Zinc, IREDA, Union Bank and L&T Technology Services are also scheduled to report results.
Has YES Bank reported a loss of ₹5,217 crore?
No. YES Bank reported Q2 net profit of ₹1,080 crore. The ₹5,217-crore figure is a pro forma post-tax loss calculation if the estimated impact of the AT1-bond ruling had been recognised.
Why is HDFC Bank in focus beyond its quarterly results?
Its treasury trading gains fell sharply, and its profit narrowly missed analyst estimates. Anup Bagchi is scheduled to become MD and CEO on October 27, while Deputy MD Kaizad Bharucha is stepping down at the end of December.
Is Divi’s Laboratories a confirmed supplier for Foundayo?
The cited coverage points to a potential supply opportunity based on analyst expectations. A confirmed supply agreement and the associated revenue contribution should not be assumed without a company disclosure.
Why can a stock fall even when its profit rises?
The market reacts to results relative to expectations, not just the year-on-year growth rate. Axis Bank’s profit increased 37.6%, but the result narrowly missed estimates because higher expenses and weaker other income offset other improvements.
