The Company was incorporated on July 7, 1995, is the flagship company of Bharti Enterprises and has a diverse business portfolio that created global brands in the telecommunication sector. It is Asia’s leading integrated telecom services provider with its operations in both India and Sri Lanka. Also, the company has been at the forefront of the telecom technology revolution and transformed the sector with its world-class services functioning on the best technologies. It is one of India’s leading business groups with several interests in sectors such as telecom, retail, manufacturing, agribusiness, and financial services. Recently, it has forayed into retail business as Bharti Retail Pvt. Ltd. under a MoU with the WalMart specifically for the cash & carry business. The Company also launched an international venture with the EL Rothschild Group for exporting fresh Agri products exclusively in Europe and the USA. Also, the company launched Bharti AXA Life Insurance Company Ltd under a JV with AXA, a world leader in both financial protection as well as wealth management. It is India’s largest integrated and the first private telecom services provider that has its footprint in 23 telecom circles. Since the Company's inception, it is at the forefront of technology and also directed the course for the telecom sector in India along with its world-class products & services. The businesses of the Company are structured in three individual strategic business units or SBU’s – Mobile Services, Airtel Telemedia Services & Enterprise Services. In this, the mobile business also provides mobile & fixed wireless services using GSM technology in 23 telecom circles. Whereas, the Airtel Telemedia Services business offers broadband & telephone services in about 95 cities and has recently launched India's best Direct to Home (DTH) service named Airtel digital TV. It also provides end–to–end telecom solutions to corporate clients and both national & international long distance services to carriers. The brand Airtel offers such services as it has a high-speed optic fiber network that spans over 90,205 km and covers all the major cities in India. Also, the company has two international landing stations in Chennai that connect two submarine cable systems such as i2i to Singapore and SEA-ME-WE-4 to Europe. The Company's, Singapore wholly-owned subsidiary, was incorporated on April 2, 2007, and will obtain a license to enable interconnecting the i2i cable with other submarine cable systems landing in Singapore. It will provide increased onward connectivity to the US West Coast and cater to connectivity needs in the Asia Pacific and for carrying the business of International Calling Card Services.
