Power Finance Corporation or PFC

It was set up in July 1986 as a financial institution (FI), and it was dedicated to the power sector for financing and is committed to the integrated development of the power and its associated industries. The corporation was also notified as one of the public financial institution in 1990 under the Companies Act, 1956. It was also conferred with the status of Navratna PSU by the Government of India as on 22nd June 2007. Also, under ... the Navratna status, the government had complete delegated enhanced powers to CPSEs having both comparative advantages along with the potential to become global players. Currently, this particular corporation is being registered as a Non-Banking Financial Company with the RBI. Also PFC is providing a broad range of both financial products and services such as lease financing, project term loan, direct discounting of bills, consultancy services, short term loan, and many more for various power projects in generation, and transmission, and distribution sector as well as for renovation & modernization of an existing power projects. Some of the corporations such as The Ministry of Power, and Central Electricity Authority and PFC are working together to facilitate & improve the development of the Ultra Mega Power Projects with the maximum capacity of about 4000 MW each under the Tariff based competitive bidding route. Also, being large, these projects will meet the power needs of several states through the transmission of power on regional and national grids. The company has clients who are State Electricity Boards, State Power Utilities, State Electricity/Power Departments, Other State Departments (like Irrigation Department) engaged in the development of power projects, Central Power Utilities, Joint Sector Power Utilities, Equipment Manufacturers and Private Sector Power Utilities. The registered office is being located in New Delhi, whereas the other regional offices are located in Mumbai and Chennai respectively. Also, the Power Finance Corporation has received ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008 certifications.
